Letterboxd Taste Analytics
Compares a user's Letterboxd ratings with IMDb, Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, Trakt and TMDB to find which platform matches their taste.
Ranks every platform by rank correlation with the user and builds a six-axis "Taste DNA" profile.
Problem
Rating platforms disagree with each other, and with you. Which one should you trust when picking a film?
Approach
A one-way pipeline: fetch → enrich → analyze → visualize → UI. It scrapes a public Letterboxd profile, resolves each film to an IMDb ID, then attaches platform ratings (MDBList) and metadata (TMDB). Spearman and Pearson correlations measure how closely each platform tracks the user’s ratings. A SQLite cache skips repeat API calls.
Result
A Streamlit dashboard with platform rankings, statistically significant highlights, “hot takes” where the user diverges most from consensus, and taste breakdowns by genre, director, decade, country and runtime.
